WhatsApp, the popular Meta-owned instant messaging platform, is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to share voice messages with its recently added artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, Meta AI.
WABetaInfo, a known WhatsApp tipster publication, discovered the new feature in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.16.10 update, which is available on the Google Play Store.
Previously, WhatsApp users could communicate with Meta AI only through text, which meant they had to type their questions or commands to receive responses from the chatbot. This Meta AI-based interaction was considered to be slow and less effective.
With this new feature, users can now interact with the Meta AI by sending voice messages and eliminating the need for lengthy text inputs, thereby enabling a more natural and faster way of communication. This feature is particularly useful for those who need to share information or ask questions while traveling or moving around or find it inconvenient to type long questions but still require information quickly.
Further, Meta AI’s advanced speech recognition technology ensures that the content of voice messages is accurately understood by Meta AI so that the users’ queries are comprehended and addressed effectively, the report added.
In the event, Meta AI is unable to understand the content of a voice message due to background noise or poor recording quality, the chatbot will prompt users to re-record their message. This helps maintain clear and effective communication, thereby providing a high standard of user experience and interaction with the AI.
Beta testers will now see a new button added to the interface, which will allow them to quickly and easily communicate with Meta AI using voice commands. All you need to do is press and hold the button, send Meta AI your queries, and then release it once you are done with your voice message.
Notably, there is no information regarding how many languages or which languages Meta AI’s new voice message feature will support. However, considering its popularity in South Asian countries, it is anticipated that Meta will push for multilingual support.
Currently, the new voice message feature is available to some beta testers for testing and is expected to roll out to even more people over the coming weeks.
