Snapchat is great for sharing and receiving pictures that we don’t want “living” for too long, but sometimes we’d like to hold onto those memories, whether the other party wants us to or not.
Previously, we’ve shown a way to taking screenshots of incoming Snapchats in iOS 7 without the sender being notified, but that exploit has since been patched by the Snapchat team.
Today, I’m going to show you a new method of saving Snapchats without taking any screenshots, making it super easy to keep those one-second photos undetected.
You will need a jailbroken iPhone running iOS 7 to reap the benefits of this enigmatic tweak, aptly called Snapchat Log. The tweak integrates itself to your existing Snapchat app, meaning that once installed, you’re good to go! Head to Cydia, grab the tweak, and let’s get going.
NOTE: This tweak does not work yet with videos, only with pictures.
Logging Your Snapchat Activity
Taking screenshots is the worse method, as it notifies the sender (seen below) and diminishes trust.
With the tweak installed, open the Snapchat settings menu and you’ll see a new option available—Open Snapchat Log. This tweak will track ALL activity, including your own sent messages.
UPDATE:With the recent updates, you may be asked to purcahse a license to use the tweak. Bypass this by going to Settings and selecting Active Free License, then either follow the dev on Facebook or Twitter.
Saving & Deleting Snapchat Images
While the pictures are viewable through the log, They cannot be saved to your album via the free version. Also, you can delete individual photos from the log that you don’t need or want.
Clearing Your Whole Snapchat Log
To clear your entire log, go into the actual Snapchat settings and scroll all the way to the bottom, where you’ll see Clear Snapchat Log; it is literally the only option within this tweak.
Snapchat Log is a simple tweak that does it’s job. Hopefully an update will bring more extensive preferences, like choosing which photos you want logged and the option for storing Snapchat videos, but it’s pretty solid as it is now. So go ahead and betray your sender’s trust—they’ll never know anyway.
