Microsoft To Soon Allow 5TB Or 10TB Storage In OneDrive

Are you among those Microsoft OneDrive users relying heavily on cloud storage for your personal or professional needs? Do you encounter storage challenges when you hit your account limits, preventing you from uploading or syncing new files? If yes, Microsoft has some good news for you.

The Redmond giant has announced that it plans to release new subscription tiers for its Microsoft 365 Personal and Family customers by the end of the year, allowing storage expansion to 5 TB or even 10 TB.

For those unaware, Microsoft currently offers 1 TB of storage per person for its Microsoft 365 Family and Microsoft 365 Personal plans, with the option to purchase an additional 1 TB to extend the storage to 2 TB.

“Need even more storage for your memories? No problem. We will also be releasing new 5 TB and 10 TB storage tiers beyond the current 2 TB limit for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family customers by the end of the year,” the company wrote on the official Tech Community forums about the upcoming change.

It is important to note that the expanded OneDrive storage plans will be bundled exclusively with Microsoft 365 personal or family subscriptions. In other words, if you are looking to increase your OneDrive storage beyond the current 2TB limit, you will have to purchase a complete Microsoft 365 plan rather than buying additional storage separately. As a result, this could make it a more expensive option for those users who only need extra cloud storage but not the other services included in the Microsoft 365 subscription.

Currently, not much information is available about the future upgrade options in OneDrive. We will update this space as and when we get more details. Meanwhile, you can learn more about the latest OneDrive feature and storage capacity updates here.
