It’s hard to believe iOS 11 was announced three months ago. In that time, we have downloaded multiple betas, experienced the Golden Master, and seen the new software in action on the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus. After all this waiting, however, the official release of iOS 11 and all its awesome new features, is finally here. Well, almost.
So, when can you download it for yourself? Depending on when you read this, not quite yet. I know, I know — I’m not sure why all software isn’t made available at midnight on the day of release, either. I’m just the messenger. Lucky for all of us, the wait won’t last too much longer.
Since Apple HQ is on the West Coast, they tend to favor that time zone in times of software updates. The official iOS 11 release is happening at 10 a.m. PDT, which is 1 p.m. EDT for all us East-coasters.
You know, Apple, I would have appreciated a 10 a.m. update, too … why do you do this to us?
But the world is more than just America’s east and west coasts. No matter where you live, you can use this time zone calculator to figure out when iOS 11 will be hitting your region. Just use 10 a.m. PDT or 1 p.m. EDT to figure it out, and you’ll be all set.
When the update drops, you’ll likely get a notification on your iPhone. If you don’t, just head to Settings –> General –> Software Update. The update should then appear.
Just updated your iPhone? You’ll find new emoji, enhanced security, podcast transcripts, Apple Cash virtual numbers, and other useful features. There are even new additions hidden within Safari. Find out what’s new and changed on your iPhone with the iOS 17.4 update.
