So you’ve got your shiny new LG G3, your accounts are all set up, and Google has restored all of your apps. Well… almost all of them.
By default, Android devices do not allow for installation of apps from outside the Google Play Store. That means apps like the original Flappy Bird and Flash Player are unavailable for you to download until you bypass Android’s installation restrictions.
Today, I’m going to show you how to do just that, and it won’t take more than a minute. Head in to Settings -> Security, then scroll down until you see Unknown sources. Tick the checkbox, then hit OK on the following prompt.
Aaaaand you’re done. Easy peasy. Just remember, you need to trust the source you’re downloading from—apps on the Play Store go through Google’s internal testing. Anything outside of that carries a risk, so again, ensure that you trust the source of an app before you install it to your device.
To actually download apps from outside of Google Play, you’ll need their APK file (an Android application file). We have covered many, many of these apps for other Android devices, and I’m sure you’ll see a few to come here for your LG G3, so stay on the lookout.
