How does Copilot take meeting notes? Is it accurate?

Copilot Pro uses the latest GPT4 turbo, along with OpenAI’s whisper tech, to transcribe meetings. These transcriptions are then processed with GPT4 to generate summaries, provide action items related to each person in the meeting, and answer all the questions related to the meeting based on the transcription.

While the Copilot Meeting notes are reasonably accurate, in our testing, we found that they still face trouble recognizing certain accents and do not work well with most languages other than English. Certain English words from people with non-American or non-British accents will have trouble getting recognized in the transcription; Microsoft Teams and Copilot do not provide the functionality to edit transcriptions or notes, which can cause a certain degree of inaccuracy in the meeting notes.

You can do a lot with the meeting transcription, a lot more than getting just action items and getting the gist of what happened in the meeting. You can ask the co-pilot to suggest follow-up questions and get suggestions related to certain things in the meeting. You can even ask how often you were mentioned and if any issues arose. The possibilities are endless, and it is not much different from feeding a vast bunch of text to an LLM like ChatGPT and having to ask any questions related to that text.
