How to Quickly Bulk Delete Messages on iOS 13 with a Hidden Gesture

On the surface, deleting conversations in Messages seems harder in iOS 13 after Apple removed the “Edit” button on the main page. Fortunately, they added a new gesture that lets you remove entire threads and individual messages with ease.

Normally, you’d have to delete chats by first tapping the three-dot menu button in the top-right of the main “Messages” page and choosing “Select Messages” from the menu. Now, you can skip these steps entirely by simply tapping anywhere on the page with two fingers. You’ll instantly go into edit mode, where you can proceed to delete conversations as you normally would.

You can also use the same two-finger tap within a chat to select and remove individual messages without the need to long-press on a specific message to reveal a menu. It’s also worth noting that placing your fingers on two separate texts or threads will automatically mark them for deletion, but this process can be hit or miss.
