How To: Hide Your Call & Message History for Specific Phone Numbers Using Reflection for Android

Only scumbags hide their call and message history, right? Wrong. While it may seem like a tactic for the unfaithful, it’s still a good thing to do for certain contacts on your phone that you don’t want to block outright.

Blocking someone on your phone seems cruel, because you never know if someone might genuinely need your help one day—even if they do happen to be your crazy ex-lover. That being said, it doesn’t feel very ethical to go through and delete call or messaging history either.

Your current significant other may not like you talking to your ex, but it’s important if your ex needs a reference, wants to tell you a good friend passed away, or is helping you out with a complex math problem. To save your current lover the stress of knowing that you talked, use Reflection from dev Riyajudeen Mohamed Yousuf, which automatically hides and PIN-protects the history from certain numbers automatically.

In order to benefit from this application, your Samsung Galaxy S4 (or other Android phone) must be rooted and have the Xposed Framework installed.

What Reflection Can Do for You

Reflection is a simple app that hides your call history on a per-number basis. Add a number, then dictate if you want to hide both incoming and outgoing call history from the designated contact.

The ability to hide your messaging history is still not fully functional on KitKat ROMs, but it is in the Alpha stages of development, so it should be operational very soon.

How to Get Reflection on Your Phone

Install Reflection from the Play Store for a buck, or test it out first with a free APK version the developer was kind enough to include on his XDA thread.

After installing it, make sure to activate it through Xposed and reboot your device.

How to Set Up Your Invisible Call Log

To begin, you’ll first need to create a PIN for Reflection. This will ensure that only you can see the hidden call and messaging log. Next, tap the addition sign to add a contact or number, then select what logs will be hidden with the contact.

Test it out and take a look for yourself. Your history will be saved in the application’s Log View, but your personal call log will remain empty.

Once the messaging functionality is ironed out for KitKat systems, this app will be even more valuable. If you like what you see with Reflection, show support for the dev and make an in-app donation, or purchase the Play Store version linked above.
