How to Enable the Gmail Offline Mode

Let’s admit it: Gmail is our go-to choice for exchanging emails. Be it for business or personal use, we prefer Gmail over any other email service.

You may be a regular user of Gmail, but do you know it has an Offline mode? If not, here’s what it means and how to use it.

What is Gmail Offline Mode?

Gmail’s offline mode is a very simple feature. It lets you access your essential emails without connecting to the Internet.

This means that even if your PC isn’t connected to an active network, you can still access your past emails.

Interestingly, in Gmail offline mode, you can read emails and even open attachments.

In addition, there’s an option to compose emails offline. The composed email will be stored in the Outbox folder and sent once your device reconnects to a network.

How do you enable and use Gmail Offline Mode?

Now that you know what Gmail offline mode is and what it does, it’s time to know how to use it. Here’s how you can use Gmail offline mode.

1. Launch your Google Chrome web browser and sign in to your Gmail account.

2. Once signed in, click the Settings gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.

4. On Settings, switch to the Offline tab, as shown in the screenshot below.

5. On the Offline section, check the ‘Enable offline mail’ checkbox.

6. Click the Sync Settings drop-down and select the number of days you want Gmail to store emails offline on your device.

7. Select whether you want to Keep offline data on your computer or Remove the offline data once you log out.

8. Scroll down to the bottom and tap Save Changes.

Now, whenever you want to access the emails offline, you can visit mail.google.com using Chrome.
