Galaxy Xcover7 Pro and Tab Active5 Pro Are Samsung’s New Durable Devices
Samsung has announced the Galaxy XCover7 Pro smartphone and the Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro tablet. These are two new strong, durable devices for workers in tough jobs who might drop or damage their devices more easily.
These devices are made for people who work in challenging conditions, like construction sites, warehouses, or hospitals. They are built to last, with strong military-grade protection, and come with features that help workers stay productive without worrying about their devices breaking.
Both the XCover7 Pro and Tab Active5 Pro are designed to handle rough treatment. They are IP68-rated, meaning they can survive being dropped in water or covered in dust. They’ve also been tested to meet MIL-STD-810H military standards, so they won’t break easily from falls, extreme heat or cold, or constant shaking.
The Tab Active5 Pro has an extra-strong screen made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ to prevent scratches and cracks. Since workers often wear gloves, both devices have a special touchscreen that works even with gloves on. Plus, Samsung tested them to make sure they wouldn’t get damaged by common cleaning chemicals, which is important for places like hospitals or food service where devices need frequent sanitizing.
Buyers should also be happy to hear that regular upgrades, like performance, have been improved on both devices. They run on a fast and efficient Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 (4nm Octa-Core) processor. The XCover7 Pro comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with the option to add more space using a microSD card (up to 2TB). The Tab Active5 Pro comes with 6GB RAM with 128GB storage or 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, which is also expandable with a microSD card.
Battery life is much better now—the XCover7 Pro has a 4,350mAh battery, while the Tab Active5 Pro has a huge 10,100mAh battery. The tablet also has a special feature called Dual Hot-Swap, so workers can change the battery without turning the device off, which is great for long shifts.
Staying connected is important for workers, and both devices support fast 5G networks, even in crowded areas. They also have Wi-Fi 6E for better wireless speeds and network slicing, which helps keep important communications running smoothly.
The Tab Active5 Pro has dual SIM support (one physical SIM and one eSIM), making it easy to switch between different networks. It also has a front-facing NFC, which lets workers use the tablet for quick payments, scanning inventory, or checking in deliveries. This basically turns it into a portable checkout system for retail or logistics jobs.
The XCover7 Pro has a new stereo speaker system that reduces annoying echoes, making calls and voice commands clearer. Both devices have a feature called Vision Booster, which makes the screen easier to read in bright sunlight. The Tab Active5 Pro’s screen is extra-bright at up to 600 nits, and has better sound tuning to cut background noise, which helps in loud workplaces. The tablet also comes with a waterproof and dustproof S Pen (IP68-rated), so workers can take notes or fill out forms even in wet or dirty conditions.
These rugged devices are perfect for frontline workers in retail, government, shipping, healthcare, and factories, and anywhere people need a tough, reliable device that won’t let them down. Still, while these seem to be marketed to those in manual labor jobs, they could just be extra features for anyone else. The devices are still good enough for regular use. They are made to be durable, but they are new devices that are reliable, so they’re worth checking out if you’re in the market for a new phone or tablet.
The Galaxy XCover7 Pro will be available starting May 8, 2025, and the Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro will come out early June 2025. Pricing should become available as the devices get closer to release, but you’ll be able to buy them both from the official website once they are released.
