Starting February 21, you can preorder your Galaxy S20, S20+, or S20 Ultra. Samsung includes everything you need to get started in the box, but probably not everything you’ll want. Let’s go ahead and bridge that gap.
No matter which phone you pick up, as with all Samsung’s flagships, there are a wide range of products you can use to enhance your experience. So why wait to get useful accessories? While you wait for your phone to arrive, you can get the essentials and have everything ready on day one. To help you out, here are a few gizmos that are all but tailor-made for the Galaxy S20.
#1. Headphone Dongle (Sigh)
The S20 is the first Galaxy S phone to not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Your old headphones are now obsolete, so toss them in the trash and buy a pair of Galaxy Buds+ like Samsung wants you to.
Or … you can buy a much cheaper adapter and keep all your old headphones.
The official headphone adapter from Samsung is a great option ($14.97 on Amazon), but is limited to 24-bit/192 kHz audio. If you want the highest quality audio your Galaxy S20 supports, we recommend the WKWZY USB C DAC ($22.99 on Amazon). Unlike the official headphone adapter, it can play up to 32 bit/384 kHz audio.
#2. 45 W Wired Charger (S20 Ultra)
While all three phones include a 25 W Super Fast Charger (SFC), the Galaxy S20 Ultra can be charged even faster with Super Fast Charging 2.0 (SFC 2.0). Currently, there are very few third-party chargers that support USB PD 3.0 and PPS, two requirements for SFC 2.0. This is why, for now, we recommend getting the official Samsung 45 W charger ($38.54 on Amazon) for fast wired charging. It’s the only one that has everything you need, including a compliant USB-C cable.
#3. 15 W Wireless Charger
The Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra support fast wireless charging as well. One of the best options is the 15 W Fast Charge 2.0 Wireless Charger from Samsung ($53.88 on Amazon). The stand even has a cooling fan to help dissipate the additional heat generated during wireless charging.
But be aware that this charger, like most wireless chargers, doesn’t come with a power adapter. If you’re using the Galaxy S20 or S20+, pick up a second 25 W Super Fast Charger from Samsung. But if you have the Galaxy S20 Ultra, you can use this as an excuse to pick up the 45 W Super Fast Charging 2.0 Charger as your main wired charging option, and using the included 25 W charger for the wireless stand.
#4. Super Fast Charging 2.0 Power Bank
Like with the wall charger, there are very few power banks that support both USB PD 3.0 and PPS, which are required to take advantage of the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s 45 W Super Fast Charging 2.0 system. Fortunately, the one option I found is fantastic — the ELECJET PowerPie 20,000 mAh Power Bank.
The PowerPie can output up to 45 W, the fastest any Galaxy phone has ever been able to charge. At 20,000 mAh capacity, you can take your S20 Ultra from 0% to 100% four times before needing to recharge, and that number would be even higher for the S20 and S20+. And using the 45 W charger, you can charge the power bank in 2.5 hours when it finally runs out of juice.
