Exciting News: Nokia Brand Returns with US Launch!

In case we haven’t beaten the ’90s revival to death enough, now Nokia is coming back to the US market. The three Android midrange devices that made their debut at Mobile World Congress last month are set for a global release, meaning they will also make their way stateside.

The largest of the three phones is the Nokia 6, with a 5.5-inch display and 3 gigabytes of RAM, which will retail for around $242 for a matte version, and $315 for a glossy black finish that will immediately be dirtied by your fingerprints. The smaller Nokia 5 will retail for $199, and low-end Nokia 3 at $147, as these models are focused squarely at the budget market.

The Nokia brand is now licensed to HMD, a Finnish company comprised of many of the same executives who founded the initial Nokia company, which has since changed hands several times. HMD has stated that the phones will run “as pure a version of Android Nougat as possible.” So no extra third-party apps or manufacturer skins, which should appeal to Android fans who like their phones to run light and fast like a Nexus or Pixel device.

This breaking news comes from Twitter, though the exact US launch date has not yet been revealed. If you’re still holding out hope for a flagship-tier Nokia device, there are plenty of rumors that a phone called the Nokia 8 or Nokia P1 will soon fill that void.
