Just six days after the release of dev beta 3, developers now have their hands on the fourth iOS 12.1 beta. While Apple has recently followed a lengthy and inconsistent release schedule with its beta software, the company seems to want to keep testers happy with 12.1 — beta 4 might have come less than the standard seven days after beta 3, but at least it’s here quickly.
Beta 4 does not appear to offer any new features or major changes from the third beta — instead, testers should expect minor bug fixes and security patches, standard for most beta updates. That said, we will continue to monitor this version, and will update this article with any new information.
To download and update your iPhone to iOS 12.1 dev beta 4, you first need to be a registered developer with a valid configuration profile. If you have iOS 12’s new “Automatic Updates” enabled, you can let the software update overnight. To download the beta right now, however, launch the Settings app, select “General,” then “Software Update.” Tap “Download and Install,” then follow the on-screen prompts to download and install iOS 12.1 dev beta 4.
