Apple Drops iOS 12.4 Beta 6: Time to Beta Test!

Apple’s upcoming iOS 12.4 isn’t the company’s most exciting release on its surface, given iOS 13’s impending fall unveiling. However, anyone interested in Apple’s in-the-works credit card, Apple Card, will need iOS 12.4 on their iPhone to use the card, and that day seems to be getting closer. The sixth beta for iOS 12.4 was just released today, July 9, for both developers and public software testers.

Since this beta software is so new, we can’t say for sure what it brings to the table. However, based on past updates to the 12.4 beta cycle, we can take some guesses. For starters, we don’t expect any new features or significant changes, unlike iOS 13’s major updates. Instead, it seems Apple merely is refining its Apple Card update to ensure it squashes bugs and improves stability. While not flashy, it’s tough to complain about smooth software.

  • Update: Apple’s iOS 12.4 Beta 7 Available for Devs & Public Beta Users

Beta 6’s release notes don’t show anything new, as they are the same as beta 5’s.

Overview

  • The iOS 12.2 SDK provides support for developing iOS apps for iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch devices running iOS 12.4. The SDK comes bundled with Xcode 10.2.1 available from the Mac App Store. For information on the compatibility requirements for Xcode 10.2.1, see Xcode 10.2.1 Release Notes.

Instruments — Resolved Issues

  • Resolved an issue where running an app in iOS 12.2 or later under the Leaks instrument resulted in random numbers of false-positive leaks for every leak check after the first one in a given run. You might still encounter this issue in Simulator, or in macOS apps when using Instruments from Xcode 10.2 and later. (48549361)
