Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9+ Release Dates & Preorders!

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ are excellent smartphones that wowed critics and consumers alike. So, it’s only natural that Samsung’s followup, the Galaxy S9 and S9+, would garner significant anticipation. While we don’t know everything about these devices quite yet, we do have guesses to some key points of interest, including when the device will be announced and even released.

Announcement Date: Late-February

While many thought Samsung would officially unveil its 2018 flagships at CES in January, it appears more likely that the Galaxy S9 models will not show up there. All the latest gossip seems to indicate the next mainstream Galaxy devices will be announced in February, possibly during the Mobile World Congress 2018 which takes place from Feb. 26 to March 1.

Release Date: Mid- to Late-March

While we all want to see the S9 and S9+, we also want to know when we can get our hands on one of our own. Luckily, Bloomberg reports that Samsung plans to release its newest smartphones in March. Other rumors point to an early release, so anywhere between 2–4 weeks earlier than last time can be expected, which makes sense since the S8 line was released on April 21, 2017.

Preorder Date: Early March

In all likelihood, preorders for the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will go live on Samsung and carrier websites the day after the announcement and about 3 weeks before the official North American release date. So, for example, if Samsung announced it toward the end of MWC 2018 on Feb. 28, you can expect preorders to go live on March 1, followed by a possible March 23 release date for everyone.

The S9 and S9+ will be the first major Samsung release since the Galaxy Note 8, which expanded on the experience offered by the S8 and S8+ with a larger display, dual cameras, and, of course, the S Pen. While it is currently the only Samsung flagship to feature a dual-camera system, the release of the S9 and S9+ should change that. Plus, the S8 and S8+ models will be the first to have Android 8.0 Oreo and Samsung Experience 9 out of the box.

There’s a lot to get excited about the S9 and S9+. We’re looking forward to seeing that new dual-camera system, smaller bezels, new internals, and much more.
