After the limited initial release of the massively popular game on the Android platform, many users have been stuck waiting to play Fortnite. That’s because, initially, Epic Games only released the game to Samsung Galaxy devices, and asked non-Samsung users to join an invite list. Well, the wait is finally over.
Starting today, any Android device can now play the game. Epic Games does have a set of minimum system requirements for a phone to be officially supported, but the game will actually run on almost any phone. Here is the official list of devices designated by Epic Games to support Fortnite beta on Android:
- Samsung Galaxy: S7 / S7 Edge , S8 / S8+, S9 / S9+, Note 8, Note 9, Tab S3, Tab S4
- Google: Pixel / Pixel XL, Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL

- Sony: Xperia XZ/Premium, XZs, XZ1/Compact, XZ2/Premium/Compact, XZ3
As you may have noticed, there are few noticeable omissions on the list. Several newly-announced phones, such as the LG V40, Google Pixel 3, Google Pixel 3 XL, and Razer Phone 2 are not officially listed. However, based on the minimum requirements, these phones will work just fine. If you notice your phone isn’t on the list, as long as your it meets all the following requirements, it should still work with no problems:
- OS: Recommended Android 8.0 Oreo or higher
- RAM: 3GB or higher
- GPU: Adreno 530 or higher (Qualcomm Snapdragon 820) , Mali-G71 MP20 (Samsung Exynos 9 8895) or higher, Mali-G72 MP12 (Kirin 970) or higher
Since the game isn’t located on the Play Store, you need to download the Fortnite Installer, which not only downloads the game, but handles any update to it. Use the link below to get started, then scan the QR code to navigate to the official link for the Fortnite Installer. If you already have the Fortnite Installer, simply run the latest update to play the beta.
You should note that you will need to disable USB Debugging on your device in order to play. If enabled, once in a game, Fortnite will kick you out and prompt you to disable the option. What do you think about Fortnite finally coming to Android? Have you been playing the beta for a while or were you waiting for an invite like me? Sound off in the comments below!
