Scrolling through my Instagram feed, I inevitably come across an image or video that I genuinely like amongst the countless selfies and plates of food porn. Naturally I want to save this image before it’s buried under new posts from the heaps of people I follow, but I’m left stranded with only the ability to take a screenshot.
Unfortunately, the ability to save media is not a feature Instagram includes in their app, but if you’ve used the Instagram Downloader mod, you were able to beat the system and save Instagrams directly onto your rooted Android device.
If you felt excluded because you didn’t want to root your device, don’t fret. Today, I’ll be showing you how to add the “Download” function to Instagram on your non-rooted Android using a modded version of the Instagram app from developer Osama Ghareeb.
Step 1: Uninstall the Official Instagram App
In order for the modded version of Instagram to work, you will need to uninstall the existing version from your device.
Step 2: Install Instagram+
With the original app uninstalled, download Instagram+ onto your device. This is simply a modded version of the latest Instagram version (6.9.1), but with the Download function included. After you install Instagram+, just sign in like you normally would.
Note: This method works a little bit better and is more stable on Samsung devices than the one we showed previously, EasyDownloader.
Step 3: Save Images & Videos
When you see an image or video you want to keep, tap the three-dot menu icon and select Download. Just know that this will not work with private messages, just images and video from your feed.
The video or picture will then be available in your gallery to view whenever you want.
Using Instagram+ is also a great way to #regram photos that you like, again, without having to rely on a screenshot. Let us know what you think of the app in the comment section below.
