How to Share Music from Your iPhone Keyboard

Apple’s iOS 8 ushered in a new way of typing with the addition of third-party keyboard compatibility. We’ve seen everything from keyboards with swipe gestures, customizable themes, different sizes, and even embedded GIFs. Now we’ve got one for all of you music lovers called AudioShot, which allows for easy sharing of music directly from the keyboard.

Download AudioShot for free from the iOS App Store, then open it and sign in with your Facebook credentials, which is beneficial because the app will pull all of the music that you listen to on Spotify (since they’re usually linked) and places your favorite songs in the keyboard when you use it.

After setting up the keyboard and granting it access to your device, open any messaging app (Messages, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Facebook Messenger, etc.). The keyboard will be a dark grey color, with a look similar to the one on stock iOS 8, except for an AudioShot icon to the left of the space bar.

Use the AudioShot icon to access its features, which include the ability to search for music, go through the latest Spotify songs you’ve listened to, and use a regular iOS 8 keyboard. When you find a song, simply tap on it to send a link. Hold down for a second to copy the cover image of the song, to send it as a supplement to the link.

The music link will open up the track in Safari, where you can either listen to it through the browser or tap at the bottom to play the song in Spotify (if you have the app).

If you aren’t a Spotify subscriber, you’ll be able to share music through services like iTunes, Pandora, Rhapsody, Rdio, and more. You can also view any music that’s been sent to you through the AudioShot app itself.

Check out AudioShot for yourself and let us know what you think in the comments below. And make sure to follow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Google+, and Twitter to see more iOS tips like this one.

Just updated your iPhone? You’ll find new emoji, enhanced security, podcast transcripts, Apple Cash virtual numbers, and other useful features. There are even new additions hidden within Safari. Find out what’s new and changed on your iPhone with the iOS 17.4 update.
