How To Disable Ads From Torrent Client (uTorrent & BitTorrent)

Torrent is mostly used to download large files on the Internet. To download torrent files, you would need a reliable torrent client like BitTorrent or uTorrent. Both torrent clients are known for better management features and simple UI. These are the most popular torrent clients available for the Windows operating system.

Despite being popular, many users still face problems downloading large torrent files. Users often complain about slow downloading speed. Also, both BitTorrent and uTorrent clients serve users with ads, affecting the downloading speed. So, in this article, we have decided to share a method to block ads on uTorrent and BitTorrent clients.

How To Disable Ads From Torrent Client

The method we will share below doesn’t require any additional app installation. We have shown the BitTorrent method; you must implement the same thing on the uTorrent client to remove ads. So, let’s check out how to disable ads from torrent clients.

1. First of all, launch your favorite torrent client – BitTorrent or uTorrent.

2. Next, head to the Option > Preferences.

3. Under the Preferences, you need to click on the Advanced.

4. Under the Advanced, browse to the following two – offers.left_rail_offer_enabled, offers.sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled

Along with these, you also need to set False as Value for these:

  • gui.show_plus_upsell
  • gui.show_notorrents_node
  • offers.content_offer_autoexec
  • bt.enable_pulse

6. Once done, restart the Torrent client.

That’s it! You are done. Now, you will not see a single ad on the Torrent client.

Setup & Use AdGuard DNS Server

Another best way to remove ads from Torrent clients is to use the AdGuard DNS server. AdGuard is a public DNS server that offers ad-blocking functionality & other features.

While AdGuard doesn’t remove all ads from the torrent client, it still blocks the most annoying ones. Here’s how you can setup AdGuard DNS server on Windows.

1. Open the Settings app and click on Network & Internet.

2. On the next screen, click on the Change adapter options.

3. Now right-click on the active connection & select Properties.

4. On the adapter properties, select Internet Protocol Version 4 and select Properties.

5. To block ads, use the following DNS server address:

  • 94.140.14.14
  • 94.140.15.15

6. Once done, click on OK.

That’s it! After making these changes, restart your Windows PC. You will notice fewer ads on your Torrent client after the restart.
